World Vegetarian Day

Did you know that approximately 10% of the worldโ€™s population is vegetarian?

October 1st is World Vegetarian Day. This special day promotes vegetarianism’s joy, compassion, and life-enhancing possibilities.

So what are the benefits of being a vegetarian? For one, you get to eat delicious food like Piroshky Piroshky!

Our bakery is famous for its meatless pies, and they’re worth celebrating on World Vegetarian Day. But that’s not all – being a vegetarian can also be good for your health!

Studies have shown that vegetarians tend to have lower rates of heart disease, obesity, and diabetes. So if you’re looking for a reason to try a meat-free diet, October 1 is the perfect day to start!

Pierogi Day!

October 8th is World Pierogi Day! It’s not like we need a special day to enjoy these undeniably delicious dumplings, but it doesn’t hurt. ๐Ÿ™‚

The Russian word pirogi and the Polish word pierogi are homonyms. Despite the phonetic similarity, the words describe different types of cuisine: pirogi can be baked or fried pie, while pierogi are boiled stuffed dumplings.

The Russian word for dumplings is โ€œpelmeni,โ€ and the Ukrainian word for dumplings is varenyky.

Pierogi are boiled, delicious stuffed dumplings. The semicircular dough is often stuffed with savory fillings before being boiled. After boiling them, the cook will either bake or fry the dumplings in butter to finish cooking them.

However you choose to spell it, these dumplings of unleavened dough bring a delicious and comforting meal to serve at any table. You can also order them on our site.

I don’t live in Seattle but whenever I travel close enough to grab some of their awesome baked goods, you better believe I stop and stock up! I hope this place can keep this place going for another 30+ years. I would be sad not to have their wonderful tasties anymore.”
